R.I.P. Smokin' Joe Frazier & Heavy D

R.I.P. to two individuals with immense talent.

Joe Frazier passed away November 7th of this week at 67 years old. Frazier notoriously defeated Muhammad Ali in defense of his heavyweight boxing title in 1971.  He died after a long battle with liver cancer. A Philadelphia native, Frazier was a boxing icon and inspiration to many fighters today. His spirit & athleticism will live on in the pantheon of great athletes this world has seen.

Heavy D (Dwight Arrington Meyers) died yesterday, November 8th at 44 years old. He was a member and leader of the hip-hop group Heavy D & The Boyz. As a fellow native of Mount Vernon, New York, hearing of his death saddened me; Heavy D (along with Pete Rock) was largely responsible for putting Mount Vernon on the Hip-Hop map. He worked with the likes of Q-Tip, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Beanie Sigel as well as appearing in multiple TV shows & movies (Living Single, The Cider House Rules, Boston Public, Law & Order). His death was due to respiratory issues, sources say.
